Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to visit the United Arab Emirates to engage in discussions centered on regional security, focusing particularly on the ongoing conflict involving Iran and the current situations in Gaza and Lebanon. This visit marks Fidan’s second trip to the UAE since March, indicating the importance both countries place on their diplomatic dialogues.
The talks are expected to emphasize the need for enhanced regional cooperation to address conflicts and curtail external interventions. A significant point of discussion will likely be the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation through strategic maritime passages—the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait—which are crucial for both regional and international trade.
In addition to security concerns, the agenda will cover developments in Gaza, specifically the implementation of the second phase of the peace plan, along with humanitarian assistance and reconstruction efforts. Both Türkiye and the UAE, as founding members of the Board of Peace, are anticipated to coordinate on peace activities and support to maintain ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon.
The countries will also prepare for the next meeting of the Türkiye-UAE High-Level Strategic Council, further solidifying their Strategic Partnership established in 2023. The first leaders’ meeting of this council took place in Ankara in July 2025, signaling a robust commitment to ongoing collaboration.
Bilateral trade between Türkiye and the UAE reached $19.346 billion in 2025, positioning the UAE as Türkiye’s largest trading partner in the Gulf region. This economic relationship underscores the importance of their strategic dialogue and cooperative efforts in maintaining regional stability.
