Russia and Ukraine Swap Hundreds of Prisoners Amid Deadly Aerial Assault

Date:

In a rare moment of cooperation during an ongoing war that has lasted over three years, Russia and Ukraine successfully completed the third and final part of a large prisoner exchange. On Sunday, both countries released 303 prisoners each, bringing the total number swapped over the weekend to more than 1,000. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the latest swap, emphasizing the return of military personnel from several national services.
However, this glimmer of collaboration was overshadowed by a devastating aerial assault by Russia just hours earlier. Ukraine reported that Russia launched 367 drones and missiles in what Kyiv officials described as the largest aerial attack since the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022. The bombardment, which fell on over 30 cities and villages including Kyiv, killed at least 12 people and injured many more.
