Alipov: Nuclear Weapons Are Russia’s ‘Guarantee’ Against Defeat in Ukraine

Date:

Russia’s nuclear weapons serve as a “guarantee” against defeat in the war with Ukraine, Ambassador Denis Alipov made clear at an event in Gurugram this week.
“You can’t… take over us in this conflict simply because of our nuclear weapons,” Alipov stated, removing any ambiguity about his position on the war’s potential outcome.
He explained that this isn’t just a threat, but part of Russia’s official military doctrine, which allows for a nuclear response to an “existential threat.”
This, he argued, makes the European goal of a Ukrainian victory a “childish” fantasy. He labeled the belief in a Russian military defeat as “unprofessional” and “craziness.”
Alipov also claimed that Donald Trump “understands” this reality, stating the former US president recognizes the “futility” of the conflict and that the war is “lost by Ukraine and the West.”
