The initiative faced significant backlash from employees, who voiced worries about privacy, consent, and trust issues linked to the monitoring of workplace activities. In response, over 1,600 employees signed a petition urging the company to discontinue the practice of collecting data on computer usage by employees.
According to Meta, the program was originally designed with privacy safeguards and there was no indication of unauthorized access to the data collected. Despite these assurances, the company has decided to pause the initiative as it reviews the system and evaluates its data management practices.
