Advanced Tech Boosts Türkiye’s Defense Exports Beyond $11 Billion Annually

Date:

Türkiye’s defense industry has reached a significant milestone, with defense and aerospace exports surpassing $11 billion over a 12-month period for the first time. This achievement underscores the rapid growth and international demand for Turkish defense products. In June alone, the country’s exports in this sector reached $802.8 million, marking a notable 29.6% increase from the same month in the previous year. The first half of the year saw a similar upward trajectory, with exports increasing by 29.5% year-on-year to $4.67 billion.

Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), attributes this growth to the rising global demand for defense products manufactured in Türkiye. He also emphasized the effective performance of Turkish defense systems in real-world operations, which has been instrumental in fostering long-term international partnerships. This growth reflects not only an increase in production capabilities but also an expansion of Türkiye’s defense manufacturing ecosystem.

Over the past two decades, Türkiye has significantly developed its domestic defense industry. This evolution has reduced the country’s dependence on foreign military equipment and established it as a formidable player in the global defense market. Today, Türkiye exports more than 230 different defense products to 185 countries, illustrating its expansive reach and influence in the defense sector.

The country’s strategic focus is now directed towards securing a position among the world’s top 10 defense exporters. Türkiye’s efforts in bolstering its defense industry highlight its commitment to innovation and competitiveness on the global stage. The ongoing expansion and success of this sector are a testament to the nation’s dedication to strengthening its defense capabilities and international trade relationships.
