The Turkish Parliament will convene this Tuesday to discuss a proposed bill concerning the Turkish Red Crescent and to hear from Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan. This session aims to address significant legislative and economic topics impacting the country.
The new legislation under consideration seeks to empower the Turkish Red Crescent, alongside international and foreign Red Cross and Red Crescent organizations, by granting them the authority to receive and utilize both cash and in-kind assistance. This capability would be applicable during both ordinary and emergency situations in Türkiye. Additionally, the bill proposes that Turkish Red Crescent personnel involved in field operations during disasters, wars, conflicts, and other extraordinary circumstances receive compensation. As part of the proposed changes, leaders of provincial and district Red Crescent branches would join the boards of trustees for local Foundations for Social Assistance and Solidarity.
In parallel, Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan is set to present to the Parliamentary Planning and Budget Committee. His address is expected to cover a range of topics, including global economic trends, the current state of Türkiye’s economy, inflation challenges, and the nation’s monetary policy framework.
Alongside these discussions, the Parliamentary Public Works, Reconstruction, Transport and Tourism Commission will evaluate legislation related to foreign digital accommodation platforms. This reflects a broader focus on adapting regulatory frameworks to address contemporary economic and technological developments.
