‘A Disgraceful Decision’: Netanyahu Condemns Allies at UN

Date:

In an address filled with condemnation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took aim at his own allies, including the UK and France, calling their recognition of a Palestinian state a “disgraceful decision.” He argued vehemently that the move would only “encourage terrorism against Jews” and other innocent people.
The speech itself was a scene of diplomatic drama, as representatives from more than 50 countries walked out in protest. The vast, empty spaces in the UN General Assembly hall provided a silent counter-narrative to Netanyahu’s claims of broad, private international support.
Netanyahu remained steadfast on his military objectives in Gaza, vowing to push forward with an offensive on Gaza City to eliminate what he called the “final remnants of Hamas.” This pledge was made as reports of at least 22 new deaths in Gaza circulated, adding to the staggering humanitarian toll of the war.
The Israeli leader also issued a direct ultimatum to Hamas leaders to surrender and release the 48 remaining hostages or face being hunted down. His speech, broadcast on loudspeakers in Gaza, represented a multi-front strategy of military force, diplomatic defiance, and psychological warfare.
