Türkiye, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan Urge End to Israeli Occupation and Two-State Solution

Date:

Türkiye, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan have issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories, highlighting the urgent need to end violence and halt illegal settlement expansion. The foreign ministers of these countries met in Istanbul to discuss the ongoing conflict and emphasized the importance of a two-state solution as a path to lasting peace in the Middle East.

The statement reaffirmed support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The ministers expressed concern over Israeli settlement activities in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and condemned attacks by settlers on Palestinian communities. They also called for unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza and stressed the need for urgent reconstruction efforts.

Amidst rising regional tensions, particularly involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, the four countries underscored the necessity of dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further escalation. They urged all parties to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure and supported efforts for a negotiated settlement.

The ministers also emphasized the importance of freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, warning that disruptions could jeopardize global supplies of energy, fertilizers, and food. They called for the restoration of safe and unrestricted maritime passage to ensure stability.

In addressing the situation in Yemen, the countries condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and civilian infrastructure, as well as on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait. They urged an end to military operations and encouraged the Houthis to re-engage in the political process.

Türkiye committed to continuing its support for diplomatic initiatives and regional coordination to tackle security challenges and promote peace. The four nations agreed to maintain ongoing consultations on regional conflicts, humanitarian concerns, and long-term stability.
