New Cyber-Secure Battery Tech Emerges from ESET and EVC Group Collaboration

Date:

In a bid to enhance Europe’s cyber and energy resilience, ESET has teamed up with EVC Group to develop next-generation battery energy storage systems. This strategic partnership focuses on creating CyberSec BESS, a newly designed cyber-secure battery energy storage solution tailored for the European market. As battery storage systems become crucial in supporting power grids and critical energy infrastructure, the collaboration underscores the importance of integrating cybersecurity alongside performance and reliability.

The partnership was solidified with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), setting a framework for the development, certification, and commercialization of CyberSec BESS. This ambitious initiative was unveiled on June 25, 2026, at Intersolar Europe in Munich, an event renowned for its focus on renewable energy and technologies. CyberSec BESS aims to align with current and future European Union cybersecurity regulations, bolstering the long-term resilience of critical energy systems across the continent.

CyberSec BESS is poised to merge European expertise in cybersecurity, system integration, and certification with global battery manufacturing capabilities. Martin Talian, Chief Corporate Solutions Officer at ESET, highlighted the significance of integrating cybersecurity into battery storage systems from inception, rather than as an afterthought. He emphasized that the initiative allows ESET to leverage its experience in safeguarding critical infrastructure while contributing to a robust energy sector prepared for evolving cyber threats.

According to Oliver Garaj, Managing Director of EVC Group, the success of resilient energy infrastructure hinges on a comprehensive systems approach rather than merely combining individual technologies. The partnership with ESET brings together engineering expertise, advanced energy technologies, and stringent cybersecurity standards, resulting in battery storage systems that prioritize security, transparency, operational reliability, and strong performance. These attributes are expected to gain importance as Europe’s energy sector presses forward with modernization.

ESET, recognized as the largest global cybersecurity provider headquartered in Europe by the Frost Radarâ„¢: Endpoint Security, 2025 report from Frost & Sullivan, offers AI-driven cybersecurity solutions across various environments. Through its collaboration with EVC Group, ESET aims to fortify Europe’s energy resilience and support the secure deployment of next-generation battery storage technologies.
