Teknofest Showcases Türkiye’s Advanced Maritime Security and ‘Blue Homeland’ Innovations

At the conclusion of Teknofest Blue Homeland, senior Turkish officials emphasized Türkiye’s dedication to enhancing maritime security, boosting defense capabilities, and achieving technological independence. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz highlighted the increasing significance of safeguarding Türkiye’s maritime interests, referred to as the “Blue Homeland,” in light of rising geopolitical competition, security threats, and the race for critical technologies, energy resources, and trade routes.

The event, held at the Gölcük Naval Shipyard, featured an impressive display of 37 vessels and four aircraft, including the TCG Anadolu, TCG Istanbul frigate, TCG Derya, and the Murat Reis submarine. Also showcased were domestically developed unmanned maritime systems, underscoring Türkiye’s advancements in defense technologies.

Yılmaz pointed out that Türkiye is making significant strides in integrating manned and unmanned platforms, leveraging artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced sensors, and secure communication technologies. He noted the country’s defense industry has achieved a localization rate exceeding 80%, with ambitions to further solidify its position among the world’s top defense exporters.

In addition to the displays, Teknofest Blue Homeland hosted competitions centered on unmanned underwater systems, maritime vehicles, and underwater technologies. These contests aim to inspire and support young engineers and innovators, highlighting Türkiye’s commitment to fostering talent in cutting-edge technological fields.
